This video is about CARS. We look at cars prepared
for K9 use, interview the handlers and see a "bite"
demonstration. Det. Sgt. Flanikan shows us a 1939 ford
which is about to be restored for community policing.
We ride in a restored 1951 Nash Cop Car and we go out
on patrol in a 96 Caprice.
Also included is a feature on a 1948 De,Soto Suburban
Limo. restored Taxi.
We look at the 93 and 96 Caprice,
and Ford Crown Victoria and compare the police packages.
This includes the Corvette derived engine in the 96 Caprice.
Also included is preparing the Cop Car, checking the guns,
Bike Cops, Arrests and general patrol work included.

As the title suggests, this video deals totally with
the USA law Enforcement Vehicles, but don't assume
that it will consist of only modern day police cruisers.
Time is well spent on a restored 1951 NASH Highway patrol
car and with the owner, a restored De.Soto Suberban Taxi
is also featured in great detail.
Quite sometime is spent in the company of the K9 division
and the training of dogs and handlers.
Interviews with the Cops about their specially adapted
Police cars is interesting and the officers seem to enjoy
describing the handling and speed capabilities of their
units. (Crown Victoria or Chevy Caprice) The producers of
the video were allowed out on duty with one of the units
and filming was not restricted (I doubt you would get this
co-operation from UK police) At one stage, they were told
to stop in the car while an officer approached a car for
speeding. I don't think they would have had to ask me
twice. A very detailed check of the vehicles equipment
is carried out before the tour of duty, including the
on board computer system. (It's like the control panel
of the Starship Enterprise on these cars)
Where else but in the USA would you store a shotgun in
the roof of the vehicle and carry a 45 Magnum on your belt?
All in all a remarkable insight into the motorised units
and duty of the California Police Departments.

Love 'em or not, you can't deny that a substantial
number of enthusiasts have a great satisfaction for
the American 'black and white' - and all that goes
with them!
The title features a 1939 Ford, which is to undergo
restoration for community policing. Still in the
classic theme, the team take a ride in a 1951 Nash
(voluntarily, I'm told), and later go on patrol in a
1996 Caprice.
Also covered is the K9 Academy, guns, bikes, and
general information on today's American force.
