If you thought the title as being a contradiction in
terms when it comes to American cars, you'd be wrong,
as this video will show. Not strictly adhering to the
scrapyard them, the title also covers a selection of
used car traders and parts suppliers: ranging from
breakers who sell a few whole vehicles to car dealers
who also sell some scrap (er, sorry, break cars.)…..

newer cars for sale and new parts if the scrap yard we
visited had these additional services.

After viewing stateside reclaiming yards on previous
titles our English equivalents appear to represent the
flip side of the coin. With few exception, you can
forget the body panels as most of the older vehicles
have almost rusted into the ground. However, when it
comes to mechanical components, there's a treasure
hoard readily available and waiting discovery on the
vast shelves gathering dust - everything from whole
rebuilt 30s engines to a 90's Mustang interior. AVS
also manage to get a few sample prices from each of
the six venues covered. Although the majority of the cars
are of seventies vintage, you'll be surprised just how
many older classics are rusting in piece under decades
of debris and assorted vegetation. I suspect David Craig
felt more like David Bellamy making this one, as he
sifted through the dense undergrowth to discover rare
species of spouting tail fin, protruding Dagmars, and
even a wilting Edsel grill!
Overall a good reference video that shall sit on our
shelf under the weepies section.
